Nanomerism: Journey to the Heart of Cellular Music (January 14, 2025)

Nanomerism, an artistic and musical movement founded by French composer Benoit Stasiaczyk, invites itself into the interstice between music and body consciousness. This concept, an evolution of the nanomalist concept that Benoit Stasiaczyk had developed in 2017, redefines the relationship between the musician and the audience by making listening an act of inner observation. Through meditative concerts such as "Souffle", "Lumière", "Silence", "Bodies", nanomerism immerses us in a sensory exploration of the conscious cells that make up our being.

Context and justification

Music has always aroused emotions and reflections, but nanomerism invites a deeper introspection. In a world overexposed to noise and agitation, Benoit Stasiaczyk wanted to create a space where the spectator can question his own presence, and discover that the listener is not who he thinks he is, but that his body and his cells are in relation with the music without him realizing it. This movement is based on a philosophy of active listening that goes beyond simple sound perception.

Methodology of the nanomerist concert

In the context of a nanomerist concert, the audience is placed in a room where they can choose to sit, go cross-legged, or lie down, whichever suits them best. The emphasis is on bodily immobility to encourage attentive observation. The space then becomes a territory shared between the artist and the audience, each contributing to the creation of the musical experience. In this way, the music occupies the entire space.

This type of concert is characterized by a unique sharing of the musical process. Each spectator is invited to develop an awareness of his own body, his cells, and to realize that each small cellular entity vibrates in harmony with the whole work. Thus, music becomes not only a sound to hear, but a phenomenon to experience.

Analysis and results

One of the innovative aspects of nanomerism is the musical score divided into three layers: one written for the musician, one projected in real time and a last inviting improvisation. This arrangement allows the performer to appropriate the music dynamically, while maintaining attention to the reaction of his body to this artistic creation. The areas of silence and near-silence create a space of contemplation that promotes an intimate connection to one's own breath and, by extension, to one's own existence.

Bodily and musical interconnection

Throughout a nanomerist performance, the audience discovers the hidden harmony of their own body. The cells, often invisible, live and vibrate in reaction to the music. The concert thus becomes a space of communion, where individuals become aware that listening is not simply passive, but interactive. Nanomerism offers a journey where we can marvel at the inner beauty and the cellular dance that manifests itself within us. It is a journey that unfolds in the intimate, where each spectator leaves with a unique and personal memory.

Conclusion

Benoit Stasiaczyk's nanomerism represents a revolution in the way we understand music and our relationship with our body. Through meditative concerts, the spectator is invited to an inner look, to explore his own energy flow and to observe his cells in action. By creating this space of reflection and harmony, nanomerism offers us a true awakening of body consciousness, painting a picture where music and the body are one, where the energy released penetrates matter and, at the same time, makes it emerge.
